About us / Dogs

Our first Bearded Collie, a Danish-bred blue male, came to us in 1987. He was no show dog, and we hadn’t bought him for that. Up until his all too early death he was the leader of the pack around here, and he maintained his leadership without any violent demonstration; he was a fabulous family dog. Half a year later, we got a bitch, likewise of Danish breeding. The breeder recommended exhibition, and right away at the first show she won the title of „Best Baby“. This definitely kindled our interest and inspired us to participate in further shows. Moreover, the social bonding of the exhibitions won us many new friends and acquaintances in dog world.

1989 there was a major change in our own dog world. We were offered a divorce-affected bitch from Germany : Potterdale Calamity (Cindy). She was 2 ½ years old and developed excellently. Naturally, she was also exhibited in Denmark as well as abroad, and her show career won her many titles. We are particularly proud of her 1990 World Winner title in Czechoslovakia .

Our interest in dog shows had skyrocketed, so that we now decided to import a male from England : Potterdale Equality (Starka). He was successful in Danish and German dog-show rings, too, and fathered several litters of pups in Denmark and Germany – and as remotely as Hungary .

We hadn’t actually intended to become breeders, but when other dog breeders had urged us many times, we decided that Cindy ought to have a litter.

However, when we picked Shilstone Choir Boy (Bo) from the Netherlands as a father, there were loud calls from the sidelines: “No, not Bo again!”

In those days, Bo had been employed in Denmark numerous times. Bo was a fantastic Bearded Collie with great presence and wonderful movements, which he actually managed to pass on to his offspring.

But our “A” litter demonstrated the correctness of our decision, and Cindy is now the ancestral mother of our stock.

Of the “A” litter born on May 13, 1991 . We kept a black bitch named Wipster’s Affection (Kimmi) and a brown bitch named Wipster’s Adventure ( Coco ).

Wipster’s Adventure ( Coco ) was a vibrant, cocky whelp who loved frolicking with a yellow tennis ball in her mouth, a pleasure she cherished right up to her demise in December 2003. The ball had the beneficial side effect of acting as a sound absorber.

Coco ’s exhibition career ran quite similarly to her mother’s, with various titles culminating in “Dog of the Year” in 1995. Unfortunately, we have no offspring of Coco ’s in the house.

Twice, Wipster’s Affection (Kimmi) was paired with our imported male Potterdale Prospect (Oliver). Oliver descends from Potterdale Philosopher and Potterdale Personality.

From this pairing, we have kept two female whelps. One of these is Wipster’s High Light (Grace), a bitch who won six certificates within a year and became Dog of the Year when she was only two years old. At the age of 18 months, she also had the honour of being elected Best Danish Bitch at the dog show in Stepping ( Denmark ) under British judge Ruth Schott.

Grace gave birth to two litters. From the first litter, which was fathered by Alistair’s Quite a Man, we should mention Wipster’s Lady Killer.

From the second  litter, which was fathered by Papaws Photo Finish, we kept a male Wipster's Peacekeeper. Danish Champion as well as Dog of the Year in 2008.

Out of Kimmi’s second litter, we kept Wipster’s Join The Game (Mira), who became BOB (Best of Breed) on her third exhibition at the age of 2 and later advanced to Champion and Bearded Collie of the Year.

Mira had two litters as well – the first one with Orora’s Stevie Wonder owned by Hummelwiese; out of this, we kept a black bitch named Wipster’s Nice Nature, who became Danish Champion at the age of two and “Golden Bitch of the Year” in 2006.

The second litter from Wipster's Join the Game, had Wipster's Master-Piece as father. From this litter we keept af bitch, Wipster's Quality of Life, who became Danish Champion at the age of two

Shortly after Kimmi and Coco were born, we imported a bitch from England : Potterdale Dawn Chorus (Sophie), a result of pairing Orora’s Frank and Potterdale Psalm, and of Sophie’s last litter we kept the brown bitch Wipster’s Keep On Dancing.

In addition, we imported the male dog Potterdale Quartet.

Cindy had another whelp in this house, Wipster’s Delicious Design (Tootsie), whose father was DKCH Potterdale Blue Denim.

A blue bitch likewise successful in the dog-show ring, especially in her youth dog period when she was on exhibition pretty often, she has also been Danish Champion as well as Dog of the Year.

Regrettably, she did not have the hobby of going around with a yellow tennis ball in her mouth; occasionally, a sound absorber would have been a blessing.

Our most recently imported Bearded Collie is Potterdale Danish Lady, a result of pairing Potterdale Privilege and Potterdale Pasadena.

So far, Danish Lady has littered twice. Of the first litter, fathered by Binbusy Quotation from Sweden , we kept a male named Wipster’s Master Piece. Top Winning dog in 2005 and 2006.

So this was our story of how it all began. And ever since, Lars has told Cindy numerous times that it was a truly expensive relationship he struck up with her. But she will only look up at him and wag her tail – then everything’s hunky-dory.

To the old dogs, we had to say good-bye due to old age, but in their offspring going about in our vicinity, we keep recognizing inherited features.
